Visit the section of a toy store for children under3 years of age. Check the suggested ages on the toys you examine. What do the kinds of toys aimed at 1-to 3-year-olds tell you about children in this age group? (For example, why do these toys not have small parts?) If the store carries “educational” toys, what do the toys indicate about the interests and abilities of children in this age group? Do you see toys that appear to be targeted specifically for boys or specifically for girls? Based on what you have learned about children’s abilities, do anytoys seem inappropriate for children of the suggested age range? Write a 2-page summary of your findings; include references to text/readings.
