I myself was inthe. foster care system from. 15-21 due. to behavioral issues that my parents couldnt handle. Iwas in a Residentical Treatement Center, group home, drug facility.I’ve experienced it all hence this leads to the egareness to become a social worker. One time I dealt with oppression was being forced to age out of foster care on my 21st. birthday due to the birth of my daughter. I was forced to accept a section 8 voucher, where i couldnt find housing because landlords dont like renting to people with vouchers. Consequently i had no other option but to settle in. the projects with my newborn. baby. This was not the life I pictured for my daughter and I due to the conditions within NYCHA.
