I’ve tried calling, several times, and I never got to speak to anyone due to high volume of calls.
My point is – if they are auditing it’s logical to wait until they are done and you receive your bill in order to make a payment. But since I don’t know how long this is going to take I’ll just go to the local office and make a payment there for whatever amount they say I owe.
Andy L: I extended the deadline to pay, so I am still paying on time.
You owe your individual taxes on April 15. The extension is for the time to file, not payment of taxes doe. I recommend paying whatever you worked out as what you owe on your tax return and *then* wait to see if you get a letter from the IRS asking for any more they believe you owe. You then get a chance to explain if you…
don’t believe you owe more. ps – when your ‘wheres my refund’ is still processing, this just means that the IRS has not completed your return. There could be many reasons fror this so don’t panic.
