one of the most important things that was revealed to me about dialects is, our knowledge of language and how we use it. Kory pointed out of how her daughter spoke and to Kory this was a misuse of language. At the end of her discussion she pointed out that she wasn’t correcting her daughter they just speak differently. I think the two examples that Vera gave were, peoples different styles of speaking and, different usage of words and their meanings. Words evolve over time into different meanings. She also discussed slang and the age of certain words and how their meanings change over time. Although some words are not used as often they still exist. Videos:
