Assignment: Your essay should consist of at least 4-6 paragraphs (750-1000 words), including introduction and conclusion. Your essay must contain an introduction that moves from the general to the specific with a thesis statement that comes at the end of the paragraph, body paragraphs that contain effective topic sentences, lead-in sentences, citations, interpretive commentary and transitional sentences. Your conclusion should summarize your position, but also draw attention to new observations concerning your discussion. Be sure to use MLA formatting conventions for citing sources for your introductory paragraph. Do not use sources outside those noted in the question. Topic: Comparing Stephen King’s justification of horror movies as contributing to containing natural but dangerous desires with the film clip from Jaws, determine whether or not King makes a strong case. Be sure to discuss his use of example and cause effect. Be sure to include a discussion of Leo Braudy’s “Where Monsters come from” in your introduction or conclusion. Also attached are my notes on the subject from which I could likely cobble together a quick B- or C+ essay. I will be going through the essay afterwards to add my voice to it, but the notes should give a good idea of my voice and perspective. Under normal circumstances, this would be a breeze; however, I had an unexpected medical emergency which resulted in a pile-up of work that I do not have enough hours in the day to address.
